Front End User Registration

Front End User Registration

One of the many ways to add new users to your portal is to allow self registration. You can set custom fields and also decide if you want to manually approve new registrants or automatically approve them.  Here is how to get this set up.

Requirements:

  1. Permissions:
    1. Enable User Signup in Permissions
  2. Settings: (See all Settings here)
    1. Auto Approve New Accounts and Users
    2. Registration Form

If you decide to have your registration fully automated you will want to toggle on the “Auto Approve new Accounts and Users” to prevent the Admin from having to add Users from the Pending Users tab (see here).

Signup Form Settings

The Settings menu is where you go to set up your registration form to use our build in registration once you have enabled user sign up in the Permissions menu.

You can also go more the more custom route and use Wordpress forms and Zoho Flow (or API) to automate a more custom registration process. However, take note that registering a user in Wordpress does not automatically add them to Zportals. You would need to have a workflow in Zoho CRM to automatically send out the invitation email to finish the process.
In here you can add and map any custom fields (For Default Portal Type) you would like to add to your registration form.
By default the following fields are required:
  1. First Name
  2. Last Name
  3. Email
  4. Password
If you want to customize the Password Strength, scroll down on the same page to the Password Strength section and change your settings.

For Default Portal Type (Account Based vs Contact Based Portal Types) you will want to make sure "Account Info" is enabled to allow the person registering to set the Account Name. (Most common for B2B setups for Company Name)

If “Account Info” is disabled, and the Portal Type is Default, the User’s First and Last name will be populated into the Account name field in Zoho CRM.

Note:Portal Types that are Contact Based, the only four fields that are available are First Name, Last Name, Email and Password.

The Admin can add custom fields from the Account module for user input using “Custom Field Label” and then selecting the corresponding Zoho CRM dropdown field:

If the User puts an Account Name that already exists in your CRM (Full Name if Contact Based) the user will automatically go to Pending where you then must choose to Create a New Account and Contact or Add the user to an already existing Account.
